Niota ran into the cave that her pride slept in. It was in the middle of the night and she was brimming with energy. She knew that if she was caught running around the pridlands in the dark, it would be frowned upon. Never the less, it was her favorite time to go out. She looked around the mass of tangled, sleeping bodies until her eyes fell upon her best friend Neko. Quietly but with energy, she picked her way across the land mine. She knew if even one lion or lioness stirred, she would be in for it. What would her adopted parents think? "Neko? Neko wake up. Let's go to get a drink at the water hole" Niota whispered. She moved her massive paw in the direction of her slumbering friend, ready to give her a few quick prods.

Neko opened her eyes and spoted her friend leaning over her. She pulled herself up in to a siting postion.
" Whats up?" She asked. Oh, ok, I'll go to the watering hole with you!" She growled happily when she relized what her friend had said. Neko always liked to wonder around in the dark, but it would be a lot better with Niota there.
Neko got t her paws, and stretched her lean body before glazeing at her friend, and waiting for her to lead the way out of the den.

Niota bounded over her pride-mates. She stopped at the cave entrance and waited for her friend. Once she caught up, and they where out of earshot of the others she said, "Now that I know no one can hear us, you want to know where were really going?" Niota asked. Without waiting for her friend to guess, she bleated "I found this really pretty place outside of the pridelands. It has water falls and everything!" Niota said excitedly. They where now off of pride rock. The full moon shone down , making the savanna grass a sea of silver. The eyes of the two lionesses looked like full moons themselves. Niota couldn't wait to get to the giant waterfall. She had spent most of today there. It wasn't something she wanted everyone to know about. The thought of the magical place made her paws tingle with excitement. Niota looked around and noticed that they where getting dangerously close to the Outlands. The crocodile infested river that divided the two lands was only a few paces away. Niota couldn't help but looking past the river. She wondered what was happening over there.

Neko followed Niota out of the cave and down on to the savanha. She stayed silent as she thought of the place her friend had talked about. She wondered if it was really safe to go wondering out of the pridelands, but she shrugged the thought away and continued to follow Niota. She followed her friends gaze accross the river and into the outlands. She wondered if she would ever see there land or not. Part of her always wanted to meet an outlander, bt she knew better then to just go wondering of in search of one. But if she ever got the chance, she wasent sure she would turn it donw or not.

What do you think they are doing out there?" Niota asked Neko. The lands beond her own was dark and ominsly dry. She posed for a moment to look further then normaly did. "Have you ever seen one?" Niota said, trying not to give to much away about her past. She trusted Neko, but not to the point to where she would give her her whole life story.

Neko stared silently out in to the outlands. Her thoughts wondering for a moment, then she turned to her friend.
" I dont know. There probably just looking for food and water... and comeing up with new ways to overrun us." She said the last part with a bit of a smirk on her face. Her eyes flashed with something only she knew. She couldnt help but wonder, she had always thought of seeing what the other side was like. SHe had always hoped she would never really see, but deep down, she never truely trusted her self.

"Oh grate the little fur ball found use."[/pink] Niota said playfuly. "Didn't your mother ever tech you not to follow lions around at night? Niota asked batting at the younger lioness ear. Niota giggled as she saw the Yakas eyes twinkiling, looking like little stars themself. "What do you think Neko? Do you think she can keep up with us?"

(Is this alright?)
"No, she may not!" Came a soft, but stern voice from further in the pridelands. Meru stepped out of the nightly shadows, her white-gold fur glowing like a sea of stars. "And you two should not even think about inviting her! You shouldn't be this close to the outlands!" She tried to hold her temper in, but dissapointment flooded her mind. Her adopted daughter should know better! She sighed, trying to stomp out the flames of fury burning in her heart. "I know you must be at least a little curious about that land, but don't. . . please don't try this!" She cried, her voice taking a trim of desperation. She often didn't act like a queen.

Niota spun around as she heard the fimalar voice of her adopted mother. Mom! she called in shock. "We werent going to the outlands! I promis! We Neko and I where going... somewheres elas, we just had to go by here. Then Yaka cought up to us Niota tryed to explaine. She didn't want her mother to fell that she didn't care about her. That couldn't be further from the truth. Her mom sounded hurt, which was the last thing she wanted to happen. "I'm sorry." she said looking at her paws.

Yaka tried batting Niota back, but her paws couldn't reach that high, her tail stuck out when another voice came in, she jumped since she didn't expect another lioness to come, she turned around to see a lioness, she bounded up straight to her, "um..hi" she stuttered, her eyes gazing up at her's, her head is almost tilted straight up since Meru is so tall compared to her, "sorry Meru" she squeaked, "i was just curious when i heard some noise outside, so i followed" she said, "and i'm sure Niota and Neko wasn't going to go into the outlands" she said her tail waving

Meru stared at them all, her blue gaze uncertain. She sighed. "Come back to Pride Rock." She decided. "I can't have you running about at night. We will deal with this in the morning. For now, you are restricted to Pride Rock and you cannot leave." She locked her eyes on Yaka. "I will trust you to keep an eye on them." Her eyes glimmered with amusement and resolution. She was glad she came up with an answer that would hopefully approve to all. She sighed and headed back to Pride Rock. "Come on."

Yaka smiled and nodded, she bounded ahead of Meru and slipped off in the shadows

Noita put her haed down and draged her tail through the dust. Restricted to pride rock! Would she really be able to stay. She sighed as she followed her mother back to her home. She couldn't help throwing one last glance over her shoulder. She slowed down to let Neko cath up to her. "Sorry I got you in trouble Neko" she said. She looked at her paws and continued to follow her mother across the savanna. Early morning light washed over the foursome. They where a pittiful sight. Meru, walking with her head held as proud as ever. Yaka, bounding along as if nothing had happened. And last and mabey least, the two rebleis lionesses somewhere between being cubs and fully grown, walking along with there heads down, heading twords punishment at the merrcey of Yaka.
